The countdown to the end of the year has started! I am looking forward to the new year... a fresh new year ready for new opportunities, new creative designs, new plans. I am already working on creating new designs and starting the new plans. If all goes well it should be an exciting new year. I refuse to listen to all that scary talk about economic crisis, the end of the world, etc. I can not remember the day that my country wasn't in an economic crisis. If there wasn't really one, then they were preparing for one... so what's new? I am planning to make the most of 2012! I hope your are too. Let's go for it! Happy New Year to you all!

It's that time of year again. How time flies! I didn't have time to make a Christmas desktop wallpaper this year. I will make it up to you next year. It's a strange holiday season, don't you think so? I am not really feeling the festive mood. I will be working as normal till the end of the year. It has become a tradition to start the year with a week vacation. A week that is all about inspiration... see some exhibitions and catch up with the latest music and movies. Swan Market, the day after

Yesterday Me and The Oneyes were at Swan Market. For the first time in years we decided to step out of our shell and meet the people. We were very lucky with the beautiful summer weather in October. I did not expected that at all. So just before we were going to Rotterdam, I decided to make some changes in which items we were taking with us. Good thing that I did that because some of the last minute changes got peoples attention. On a sunny day people like to see colour and fun stuff. Halloween or Christmas shopping is not on their mind at all. Overall the feedback on my work was very enthusiastic and positive. It was good seeing how people reacted to my work. It gave me a much needed confidence boost. So Swan Market visitors... thank you! We enjoyed ourselves very much. Sales were surprisingly ok which is also a good thing of course. So maybe you will be seeing us back at Swan Market next year.

Experiment: Custom Vinyl Toy

For a long time it has been a wish of mine to make a custom vinyl toy. I am not confident in my skills with the paint brush so I've kept putting it off. But no more… if I don't try then nothing will happen. Who cares if my first custom toy looks awful… only me, I guess. When it comes to critique I am my own worst enemy. So I've started with using markers and some other things. Slowly working my way up to the so feared paintbrush. A friend send me this d.i.y Scavenger toy a few years ago. It is now being transformed into a Dia de Los Muertos Oneye. Here's a sneak peek… It is way from being finished but you can see where it is going.

WIP: Swan Market

For the first time in many years I have decided to participate with The Oneyes in a market again. I have chosen a Market that is becoming very popular in Rotterdam: Swan Market. It is not a crafty market as such. It is more a lifestyle market where fashion, food, craft and art all come together in good harmony.

Rotterdam is also my home town and the area where I was born and raised. The Zwaanshals area where the Swan Market is being held used to be my playground when I was young. Now it is slowly becoming a hip place to visit which is good to see!

Right now I am producing stock to take with me to the market on October 2nd. October is my favorite month of the year with Halloween coming up. You can expect a lot of creepy stuff on my market stall. Here's a peek of the smaller stuff that I will be taking with me to Swan Market.

This week I have added a new category to my shop on Etsy: wedding party favors.
Fun gifts for wedding parties. I am starting of with some ID pins for your wedding guests. Making it easy to identify who is the family of the bride and who is part of the groom family. You can personalize the pin with your names and date of your wedding. But also the flower girls, best man and bridesmaids can have their own cute ID pin.

Another wedding related product was a custom made order for high fashion wedding photographer Rebecca from Catwalk Wedding. I have made a custom indie Loveye for her that will be the star of the show at her photo booth and site.

The Oneyes always love a good wedding. New! The Night Flyers

New bat designs have arrived! They are called 'The Night Flyers', a group of small plush bats. These young urban bats love to go on wild adventures. Especially at night. Old buildings or dark city parks are their favorite hang out places. The plush are small enough to fit in a hand so you can carry it with you wherever you go.

The design of 'The Night Flyers' I have also used as artwork on pocket mirrors. A must have beauty accessory for all creepy beauties that go out at night. Because even in the dark of night you still want to look good.

I have been away for almost a month due to RSI complaints. So I haven't been able to blog or sew new plush designs. Of course I could not sit still and I did a lot of thinking, reading and made some plans for this year. My sketchbook is full with new designs and ideas about my business. Some mayor changes will be made and some exciting projects are coming up.

For now I am starting this new month of with some new products. Of course February is the month of love so with that in my mind I have made some cute love related items. I have also added some new Creepy Beauties jewelry to the shop.

Because of her support I have been able to participate in The Plush You shows in Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles. Thank you Kristen for your support. A journey back in time: Birth of The Oneyes

The very first Oneye design was made in April 2005. This design I've made just for fun for a creative online challenge called 'A month of Softies'. I always liked plush toys but I had never made one. So I thought it would be fun to participate and give it a try.

I decided to design a monster softie that was simple in line and shape. A monster that had lost some of his body parts during the years. So he had just one eye, two teeth, two short legs and no arms. His name was also simple but clear 'Oneye'.

People's reactions were very positive. One thing lead to another and in November 2005 I decided to open The Oneyes Shop. At first there were only different color variations of the original design available. When time went on more and more designs were added. The Oneye family was born.

The Oneyes 5th year anniversary!

I almost forgot The Oneyes 5th year anniversary! An important milestone in the existence of The Oneyes has arrived. How time flew by the last couple of years. It all started at in november 2005. Much has happened since that time. It has been an exciting journey. Now it's time to look back and think about the future.

So during the next two weeks I will take you back to where it all started. We will step back in time and relive the past. At the end we will take a peek at the future of The Oneyes.

I personally always like receiving gift certificates. I don't think people go for the easy way with giving a gift certificate as a gift for Christmas, Birthday or other happy occasion. As long as it's redeemable at a shop that sell things that I like. I can always can tell if people really know me well by the kind of gift certificate they give me. By receiving a lovely gift certificate I can enjoy their gift by getting exactly what I like. Their gift will not end up on the attic or hidden in a closet.

With that in mind I have decided to add some E- gift certificates to my shop on Etsy. Later this week they will also be available at The Oneyes Shop. To make the certificates more personal I have made 3 designs that you can choose from. Within a few hours after purchase they will be emailed to you as a PDF. The gift certificates are valid 2 years after purchase date. You can print it out and wrap it like a beautiful present or you can send it to the recipient by email. A new category on The Oneyes Blog: The Oneyes Style Guide. In these blog posts I will write about creative styling ideas that will show you what you can do with products from The Oneyes shop. How to have fun with The Oneyes in daily life. Starting of this new series I would like to show you my alternative Christmas tree. Like I already mentioned before I now have two cats living with me. A big Christmas tree is therefore a big no no. So I decided to transform the IKEA jewelry tree into an alternative Christmas tree. With some ribbons, double sided tape, some magnets and some tree ornaments I decorated the little black tree. You can of course add some lights to it but I decided to keep it simple.

I am working on some new things. Keeping in mind that we are still living in hard times. I want my work to be available for all people. With my handmade plush it is not possible to lower my prices. So I have started to branch out into other areas as well. With my fashion background it only seems natural for me to start making products that are wearable one way or the other.

So I am introducing 'The Creepy Beauties'; creepy cute Oneyes accessories to personalize your outfit. Accessories made in all kinds of materials. I am starting out with some accessories that I make in-house. Other designs I need to send out for production so they will follow later on. Another canvas art print is now available at my Oneyes shop on Etsy. Animal day is coming up so I've made a cute and colorful canvas print of a Dog'eye. It is professionally printed on linnen canvas. Measures 11,8" x 11.8" (30x30cm). The canvas is stretched over a 1,18"(3 cm) wooden frame. This print is larger then the Vampire Bat'eye print.

The first Oneye art print is now available at my shop and on Etsy. I am really happy with the quality of the print. My original illustrations are professionally printed on canvas. It is printed with archival quality ink ensuring it is fade resistant. The canvas is streched around a wooden frame and is equipped for wall hanging so all you need to do once you received it is find a good place to display it. Plush You! is going to have her first show in Los Angeles at Munky King! An exhibition of 65 of the "best of the best" plush artists from around the globe curated by Kristen Rask of Schmancy Toys in Seattle.

The art pieces that you see at the Plush You! shows ranges from the cute to the creepy and attract fans that are both children and adults alike. And guess what ... My Oneyes will be there too! I have made two special designs for this event: The Lov'skulls.

I have finally opened a shop on Etsy! I have been hanging around there since 2005 but never as a seller. Since yesterday things have changed. I am now the shop owner of The Oneyes on Etsy. Main reason for doing this is to please my international Oneye friends. All prices are in US dollars and easy payment can be made through Paypal. I hope you will drop by for a visit!

When you visit the shop you can also see the first member available of the new Oneyes gang called 'Zoo Fantastique'. They are a gang of young Oneyes that hang out together at an abandoned animal zoo. Perfect place for them because they all have animal-like features. Panda Girl is the sweetheart among them. More members will follow soon!

Maybe you already know me and have visited my old blog about Me and my Oneyes. I have decided to move my Oneyes blog to a more international platform. Blogspot seems a more suitable environment for me and my Oneyes.

For the people who don't know me let me give you a short introduction. My name is Marianne and I am an indie designer. In 2004 I started my own company called 12PUNT3 specializing in graphic design and illustration. In 2005 I decided to expand into designing and producing plush designer toys and I created a family called The Oneyes. With these Oneyes I have participated in several plush art shows around the world and I sell these weird but very huggable creatures in my own online shop and through other retailers. Most popular retailer of The Oneyes is Shana Logic.

I have been blogging since 2004 about my work, my life and my inspiration. I will keep doing so but with this blog I also want to promote other indie designers and artists from around the world. This blog will be a place where you can find inspiration if you are a crafter, designer or artist and a place to find some cool shopping ideas if you are a non-creative but just like indie shopping.

Anyway, I hope you will have fun visiting The Oneyes Blog!
